Everyone loves a “favorite things” list for some holiday inspo, so we thought we’d come up with a list of our own. Several of these items are plant-based (bonus) and some are just plain favorites for go-to gifting. We hope you have as much fun exploring this list as we had making it. Happy shopping for all your loved ones on your list! **Note: none of these are paid endorsements nor did we receive free product for promoting any of these items. We are not influencers, we are just two consumers trying to survive the holidays!**
It’s no surprise one of our favorite things is the SILK pillowcase. We sell it at both our locations and it’s the tippy top thing on our list of favorites. Sleep is so important to our health, so we’re all for anything that helps us sleep better while preventing wrinkles! Yep, that’s right. This pillowcase reduces skin and hair friction so there is less stress on your gorgeous face and hair. Grab one for yourself and a friend so you can both get your beauty sleep this holiday season.
LUSH AVOBATH Bath Bomb
Is there anything more relaxing than a bath? Some of you doubt us, but that just means you haven’t taken a bath in years. Trust us, you should. And what makes the perfect bath? A bath bomb. The things you learn from your teenage daughters. This bath bomb is vegan, featuring avocado, lemongrass and bergamot essential oil. It not only smell ahhhh-mazing, it leaves your skin feeling hydrated and soft. It’s impossible not to feel happy the moment the fizz hits the water and you sink in! And did we mention the scent? It’s impossible to describe how wonderful it is. Perfect part fresh with a subtle hint of rose. You are welcome.
L’Occitane Neroli & Orchid Eau de Toliette
While we’re talking about scents, we might as well tell you about our absolute favorite smelling scent: neroli. Have you heard of it? It’s a flower and it smells heavenly. And the orchid part, well who knew we liked the smell of orchids, but apparently we do. This is the perfect perfume for someone that doesn’t like perfume. It also comes in hand lotion, shower gel, body wash and a host of other products, but we love the perfume.
Emily & Meritt Planners
If you’re like us, you are lost without your planner. No, not a phone. We kick it old-school style as in we like to write things down on paper. I mean, it’s not real until it’s written in ink-right? These planners are cute and functional. They don’t have a thousand little “extras” that are sold on the side. They are just down right practical. We love them because they show the month at a glance and then break down each day with plenty of room to write. They come in all sizes, so there’s sure to be one that fits your style. We found ours at Staples, but we imagine they are available at many different office supply stores or online.
How Not To Die Cookbook
When we have some downtime, we love to try new plant-based recipes. This cookbook has been our go-to for easy weeknight meals and it’s proving to be one of our favorites. Check out the recipe for spicy asian vegetable soup on page 52 or the beet burger on page 98. You can find this cookbook for purchase in our cafes.
Dr. Greger’s Daily Dozen App
This app is chocked full of all sorts of useful information when it comes to a plant-based lifestyle. Dr. Greger is the master of all things plant-based. The commitment he has made to empowering people about their health thru knowledge of what we eat is tremendous. Watch evidence-based videos, see what plant-based food is recommend and track your progress. It’s a really simple way to stay consistent with a plant-based lifestyle, which is something we could all use going into the New Year.
Succulents are all the rage and it’s easy to see why. They make such a perfect hostess gift and are so easy to maintain. There are countless options when it comes to making an arrangement of them. We love how Ted & Debbie’s puts them in pumpkins or arranges them in a low bowl for a lovely centerpiece. They are season-less, so you can have them out anytime of the year and they are the only plant we’ve managed to keep alive. We like green blends, but never said we had a green thumb.
Lululemon dance studio pant III
When Lululemon decided to stop making this pant, we immediately went to our local lulu and bought every size 4 they had. We were in full-on panic mode. Which is why we were overjoyed when we saw it has made a return! You won’t find a more lightweight pant that is perfect over shorts for your trip to the gym or just everyday wear. If you see us in these pants everyday, forgive us. They are that comfortable and we may or may not own every color.
Trader Joe’s Marcona almonds with rosemary.
These speak for themselves. They are addicting and we cannot be left alone with a bag. Enough said.
Flatzza Pizza Crust
We are big on traditions and one tradition we love is Friday night pizza night. At our homes, it starts with this crust. It’s thin and crispy and we have zero guilt over it. Our kids all have their favorite toppings, but one version we all agree on is our signature pizza that features ediblend hummus (as the sauce) with a kale salad spread over the top. You won’t miss the cheese, but you can still have pizza. It’s a win/win.
Batiste Dry Shampoo
Where would us mothers be without dry shampoo? Can we get an Amen? We never understood these women that could go days without washing their hair and then poof…a friend introduced us to this little miracle and we were changed forever. It’s inexpensive, it smells divine and it really works. Our favorite is the tropical scent, but it comes in a dozen different options, so surely you can find a scent that works for your head. Available at pretty much any drug or grocery store (we found ours at Ulta).
Mom’s Butternut Squash & Kale
You can put this combo on just about anything. We’ve had it as a holiday side dish too many times to count, but you can put it over whole wheat pasta, put it in a tortilla to make a quesadilla or sometimes we even put it on pizza for a yummy twist! It’s a marriage made in heaven and the color is gorgeous to boot.
½ of a large butternut squash (cubed)
1 bunch of kale (discard the stalks and tear the leaves)
1 tablespoon of good olive oil
Salt & pepper to taste
*Chili Powder if you want a little kick (my mom learned this trick from Oklahoma’s own Pioneer Woman who has the same recipe which calls for this addition)
Saute the butternut squash in the olive oil, salt & pepper and cook until the squash is softened and golden brown. Remove from pan. Add kale in the same pan and cook for four minutes just until it’s lost some of its rigidity. Toss together and you have the easiest side dish ever.
Pomegranate Gin Fizz
What’s a little bite without a classic cocktail? This cocktail has Christmas written all over it. Your guests will love the reddish-pinkish color and you can make it non-alcoholic admitting the gin. Not a gin lover? Try vodka instead. We don’t discriminate when it comes to cocktails.
1 pomegranate (you can also purchase ready-made juice)
1 tsp. lime juice
1 cup soda water
2 ounces gin
Deseed the promegranate (skip this step if you purchased ready-made juice). Pour juice through a strainer to get rid of any big pieces left behind. Divide the pomegranate juice in two glasses, add half a teaspoon of fresh lime juice, 1 ounce of gin and a ½ cup of soda water per glass. Add ice cubes and give it a good mix before serving.
Dr. Bronner’s Peppermint Soap
Nothing says holiday like peppermint and we love peppermint everything, but our favorite peppermint product is Dr. Bronner’s peppermint soap. There’s also a peppermint hand sanitizer which is equally great!
Ediblend Turmeric & Ginger Shots
We have lots of favorites when it comes to our food and blends, but the one thing we couldn’t live without during the busyness of the holiday season is our turmeric and ginger shots. We both take one of each everyday. It’s the one thing we are crazy consistent about and -knock on wood-we’ve managed to stay healthy, despite our to-do list! If you haven’t gotten on the shot bandwagon, you are missing out. Mention that you read this blog and we’ll let you try one on US! *one per customer, one time only.
Let us know all your favorite things and we might just feature one of your favorites on a future blog! Happy holidays from your friends at ediblend,
