The superfood “bowl” trend

Healthy “bowls” have been taking the superfood world by storm for quite some time. Whether it’s a smoothie bowl, chia pudding bowl or our personal favorite – the acai bowl – the “bowl” trend seems to have outlived the hype and is certainly here to stay. It was definitely love at first bite when we tried our first acai bowl, which is why we knew our menu would include not one, but three of these scoop-able masterpieces.

 So what exactly is acai?

At ediblend, acai (pronounced ah-sigh-eee) has been our jam since we opened our doors. This potent little berry is a reddish-purple fruit that comes from the acai palm tree, which is native to Central and South America. Acai berries contain antioxidants, fiber and heart-healthy fats. They may have more antioxidant content than other commonly eaten berries, such as blueberries, strawberries and cranberries. Amino acids in acai help promote muscle performance, energy production, endurance and strength.

As if all those benefits wouldn’t be enough reason to add acai to your life, the best thing about acai by far is its taste! These little berries are bursting with sweet, tangy, deliciousness. And when you blend pure, frozen acai with a nut-milk you get a purple, smooth, somewhere between sorbet and ice cream texture that’s just calling for delectable superfood toppings! It’s how the ediblend acai bowl was born and we’ve been recruiting addicts ever since. 

Acai bowl variations

We make three different varieties of acai bowls at ediblend, but are happy to customize your bowl with whatever makes your heart pitter patter. Whether you’re in an original, tropical or chocolate kind of mood, we’re always ready to make your day better with one of these amazing acai treats. The original acai bowl at ediblend is topped with strawberries, pineapple, blueberries, granola + a drizzle of honey. Our tropical adds a little twist to the original by substituting coconut for the blueberries and our chocolate lover’s dream has cacao added to the acai and is topped with granola, bananas, hemp seeds, walnuts + a drizzle of honey for pure acai perfection.

We’re always looking for ways to inspire our customers to eat healthy all day, everyday. Our acai bowls make a perfect superfood breakfast, lunch or afternoon pick-me-up. We don’t add any sugar or artificial sweeteners to our acai bowls and we offer a gluten-free granola option for all our GF friends. Acai is low in calories and high on heart-health. If you love ice cream or sorbet, but don’t want to indulge in the calories, sugar and dairy, our acai bowl is the ticket to satisfy your sweet tooth.
